Wiener Schnitzel
This is my husband’s favorite meal. His mother used to make it for him and now he makes it for us. Here’s their family recipe from Croatia.
Ingredients:
1 lb. Chicken or Turkey cutlets
1/2 cup flour
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup Italian style bread crumbs
Vegetable Oil
Directions:
Pound the cutlets to make them very thin. Place flour, eggs, and bread crumbs in 3 individual shallow dishes. Dredge the cutlets in flour, shake off excess, dredge through egg, and last in bread crumbs.Heat the oil in a deep fryer. Add 1 schnitzel at a time, leave in until edges start to brown and then turn over for a couple minutes. The schnitzel should look golden brown. Transfer schnitzel to plate lined with paper towels. Then, repeat with the rest of the cutlets.
This recipe serves 4 to 6 people.
Prep Time: 15 minutes; Cook Time: 20-30 minutes
A nice compliment to the schnitzel would be rice and peas or German potato salad. And my husband claims that schnitzel tastes even better the next day as left overs (if you have any).

Whenever I’ve talked about gift ideas, it has always been for someone else. Well, today, I decided to make a list of the gifts I would like to receive. (Hopefully, my husband will read this post.)
